New standard for modern engines: RAVENOL lubricants meet API SQ

Since May 31, 2025, the new API SQ specification is the latest performance standard for modern gasoline engines. We are pleased to inform you that selected RAVENOL lubricants already meet all the requirements of this new standard.

👉 What is new and special about API SQ?

The API SQ specification represents the further development of the previous API SP standard and was introduced by the American Petroleum Institute (API) to meet the increased requirements of modern engine technology.

✅ The main innovations in a nutshell:

– Up to 16% higher fuel efficiency compared to API SP

– LSPI protection even with aged oil thanks to the new LSPI Aged Oil Test

– Improved engine cleanliness thanks to reduced deposits and improved oxidation stability

– Reduced sulphated ash formation (maximum 0.9%) to protect gasoline particulate filter systems (GPF)

– Optimized low-temperature properties for reliable cold start protection
